Kyle Sittig (he/him) is a PhD candidate in the English department at MSU. He received his MA in Literary Studies from Washington State University in 2016. He specializes in film theory, the environmental humanities, petrocultures, and critical theory. His dissertation offers a selected typology of the cinema as a space of oil encounter, demonstrating how a petro-cultural approach to film studies can offer a robust methodology for the critique (and re-examination) of the environmental humanities, nature aesthetics, genre, and political ecology.
