CREATE! Micro-Grant Project Focuses on Mental Illness in Young Adults

Concerned about the social struggles young adults face today, Kayla Wikaryasz, a senior Interdisciplinary Humanities major with a minor in Creative Writing, is producing a short story that focuses on mental illness and the creative industry. Wikaryasz’s story was among the 13 proposed projects awarded a 2023 CREATE! Micro-Grant, with each winning proposal receiving $500.

Gaining Copy Editing Experience While Interning for Educational Nonprofit

Helena Rowland, a senior English major at Michigan State University, worked as a Copy Editing Intern for the nonprofit educational institution ASCENDtials where she learned how to edit copy and take charge of collaborative emails. Fiction Filmmaking Capstone Class Premieres Short Film to Sold-Out Theatre

After two semesters of hands-on experience in film production, editing, and marketing, the 2023 Fiction Filmmaking Capstone Class at Michigan State University premiered its short film, Promises, Promises, to a sold-out theatre on May 3 at Studio C! in the Meridian Mall. An on-campus screening also took place on May 4 at Wells Hall and was followed by a Q&A session with the cast and crew as well as a behind-the-scenes video of the making of the short film.
