LAE Podcast Hosts Associate Professor Kinitra Brooks

Episode six of the Liberal Arts Endeavor Podcast is out! Our host, Dean Christopher P. Long, met with Kinitra Brooks, Department of English Associate Professor and Leslie Endowed Chair in Literary Studies, to talk about her digital presence and work as a scholar of genre fiction, pop culture, and Black women.

Brooks specializes in the study of Black women, genre fiction, and popular culture. She currently has three books in print: Searching for Sycorax: Black Women’s Hauntings of Contemporary Horror, a critical treatment of Black women in science fiction, fantasy, and horror; Sycorax’s Daughters, an edited volume of short horror fiction written by Black women; and The Lemonade Reader, a collection of essays on Beyoncé’s 2016 audiovisual project, Lemonade. She also is the co-editor of the New Suns book series at The Ohio State University Press.

Brooks served as the Advancing Equity Through Research Fellow at the Hutchins Center for African & African American Research at Harvard University for the 2018-2019 academic year.
